To smooth the floor i covered screw. Bc plywood over the old subfloor using construction adhesive and driving 1 1 4 in. Should is use adhesive under 1 4 hardibacker. I know peel and sticks are definatly the cost saver but as for them not holding up i haven t had a problem one with my kitchen.
