Why Do Gutters Drip

Being a manufacturer of roof edgings and an installer of gutters i know first hand it s not always possible to get the gutter behind the drip.

Why do gutters drip.

When you choose a reliable roofing contractor you can feel confident that you are getting the work done right the first time. Home centers sell rolls of 6 in. If there s a drip edge installed where the fascia meets your shingles and the gutter is hung below the drip edge get some roll flashing and tuck it up under the drip edge and over the top of the gutter. The other element is if the gutter is not installed behind the drip edge it creates an air gap between the top of the gutter and the bottom of the drip edge which allows a place for the water to go. If the gutter is lower than the bottom edge of the drip edge install flashing behind the drip edge and over the back edge of the gutter to remove the gap.

Nonetheless each cause tends to have its own tell tale signs making it all that much easier to identify the culprit. Gutter downspouts with elbows can sometimes amplify the sound of water dripping through them. For example most ranch style homes have a 3 12 or 4 12 pitch roof.
